Cash donations –
The Houston Public Library gladly accepts cash (cheque) donations and will issue a charitable tax receipt for all donations $10 or greater. You may send your donation to us at:

or drop it off at 3150 – 14th Street.
All monetary donations are used to support our programs and services.

Material donations –
The Houston Public Library accepts donations of books and DVDs under certain conditions.
All donations must be boxed and delivered to the library during opening hours. Please do not put donations in the drop box.
Please note that material donations may not be added to our collection or catalogued for circulation and must meet our collection development criteria before that is possible. Items that are in excellent used condition will be considered for cataloging. If they do not meet our requirements for circulation, they will be added to our on-going book sale items and be made available for purchase by patrons and guests of the library by donation. Items that are not in excellent used condition or contain outdated information will be processed for recycling.
We do not accept:
encyclopedia sets of any kind
medical or legal material
pornographic material
magazines
text books
Reader’s Digest condensed books
Collections such as Time Life or Reader’s Digest.
